Tracking Foundations Course Tuesdays, 5:30pm - 6:30pm, starting 15th April 6-week course Unlock Your Dog’s Natural Tracking Ability! Join us for our Tracking Foundations Course, where you and your dog will learn how to follow ground disturbance left by a person’s footsteps – a skill used in Law Enforcement, Search & Rescue, and Conservation, but also a fantastic activity for pet dogs! Why Tracking? Tracking is an enriching activity suitable for all breeds, ages, and temperaments. It offers numerous benefits, including: ✅ Mental Stimulation – Give your dog a job so they don’t go self-employed! ✅ Physical Exercise – 10 minutes of sniffing is more tiring than an hour’s walk. ✅ Confidence Building – A great tool for anxious dogs to focus on something positive. ✅ Happy Hormones – Scientifically proven to release endorphins, boosting wellbeing. ✅ Bonding Time – Strengthen your relationship by working as a team. What You’ll Learn: This course is perfect whether you're looking for a fun hobby with your dog or aiming to build a foundation for competition or trials. Over six weeks, we will cover: Teaching your dog to identify and drive towards the target scent Maintaining nose-down tracking to the end of the trail Indicating evidence left behind on the track Understanding how your dog’s nose works and how to improve their search ability What You’ll Need: Two Marker Poles Flat Collar Comfortable Fitting Harness (e.g. Perfect Fit, ideally dedicated for tracking) Longline/Tracking Lead (Non-retractable, no slip leads) Lots of Your Dog’s Favourite Treats! Favourite Toy Dog Bowl & Water Poo Bags Class Guidelines: Dogs must remain in the car at the start of the session while we go through the theory. Dogs must remain on lead at all times on site. Walk your dog in designated areas only. Please clean up after your dog using provided bins. If your dog is reactive to dogs or people, get in touch to discuss 1-2-1 training to help prepare for the class.
